Atlanta, GA AEA/ASSA

I went to AEA/ASSA in Atlanta, GA to interview for jobs. My experience was positive overall. AEA/ASSA is a massive conference. I was able to network and meet other students that are on the job market and students that are in their second year. Some of the guys (and gals) were job market as a 6th year student, and others were there presenting working as a post doctorate. I met a lot of students from top schools (MIT, HARVARD, Boston College, Carnegie Mellon). It was cool. Most of the students I met were from an economics background.

San Diego, CA

I used to post on here a lot. I probably have a few posts I can write and backdate. For now, here's an update on a brief trip to interview for jobs in San Diego, CA at the FMA conference. It sounds boring but San Diego was a lot of fun. I stayed in the Gas Lamp district downtown at the Hi Lounge . The Hi Lounge is an international hostel with options to have a private room and/or bunk room. The rates for San Diego were around $14 (bunk) to $90 private per night. This is cheap considering comparable hotels (although nicer) were $250-$400 / night in the area. The conference was at the Hilton Bayfront and was a 10-minute walk. The city is littered with these electric scooters . I didn't ride one but saw many people commuting on these (I didn't have a helmet). The Hi Lounge was neat, a lot of world travelers, Au Pairs, and other people attending the FMA meeting. There was a nice coffee shop next to it and plenty of high-end dining and bars nearby. I'd probably go again ...

New York // World Business Institute Conference - CAN SLIM paper

I wrote a paper on how to make money (or not lose money) in the stock market for a class in Spring of 2015. I published it in the Asian Journal of Economic modeling, small low impact journal but still on google scholar. I have also build a website which you can download it from: yetul.github.io. I went to two conferences the next year, one in Pensacola, and another in Oklahoma City. Both sent letters of interest to publish in their Journals. I sent in the article to the journal in OKC (Federation of Business Disciplines). I ended up getting rejected with revisions. The feedback I got from the rejection was enough to think that revising the paper would amount to writing a new paper and conducting new research. So, I decided to get with my co-author and submit to another conference in New York, which I attended this past July. I got a couple of journal offers from low level journals at this conference. It was a good opportunity to network, share ideas, get feedback, and learn from ...
