San Diego, CA

I used to post on here a lot. I probably have a few posts I can write and backdate. For now, here's an update on a brief trip to interview for jobs in San Diego, CA at the FMA conference. It sounds boring but San Diego was a lot of fun. I stayed in the Gas Lamp district downtown at the Hi Lounge. The Hi Lounge is an international hostel with options to have a private room and/or bunk room. The rates for San Diego were around $14 (bunk) to $90 private per night. This is cheap considering comparable hotels (although nicer) were $250-$400 / night in the area. The conference was at the Hilton Bayfront and was a 10-minute walk. The city is littered with these electric scooters

. I didn't ride one but saw many people commuting on these (I didn't have a helmet). The Hi Lounge was neat, a lot of world travelers, Au Pairs, and other people attending the FMA meeting. There was a nice coffee shop next to it and plenty of high-end dining and bars nearby. I'd probably go again just for social. I interviewed for several jobs at the conference and was a little anchored to the meeting room but I did get out and meet other attendees. I also have family in San Diego but we didn't connect.
