New York, NY - August; Ellis Island, Battery Park, Wall Street, Central Park

Image
I had the opportunity to go to New York before the fall semester; late summer vibes. It was fun seeing Staten Island, the Statue of Liberty, battery park and a variety of restaurants in Manhattan. The hotel I stayed at was The Conrad in battery park. I had a weird dream about this park across the street; potato famine park for the Irish potato famine. Really strange. The dream was months prior and it had businessmen and women walking dogs and just random; I remember it distinctly because the park was grass with a paved path raised off the ground. It's possible I saw it on a website or on an advertisement at some point but to my knowledge I have never been to that park. It was a good second visit to the big apple! My friend (the son of a former professor at my Alma matter Northern Michigan University) who lives in Queens gave some recommendations of food, entertainment and nightlife around the city. It included New York Mets games. Free museum's near central park (American M...

Florida Spring Break Tampa, Beach, Porsche Friends Travel

Looking back to March, it has been a full three months since I've posted. I need to read more blogs and pick up the consistency. Spring break was a lot of fun. I didn't post all of my pictures so I'll take this time to update a few more photos. Currently I'm taking a math course at the University of New Orleans. When the semester for summer is over it would be nice to fly to Europe or take another trip in the U.S., to decompress. I want to continue this project but I have a lot of priorities. My motivation for starting this blog was to a, lay some groundwork for the future and b, tell other people how I consistently make things happen when opportunities seem scarce. This is not to boost ego but to show that there are ways of seeing new places and networking by thinking outside of conventional patterns. What I mean is, if something seems dark one has the opportunity to make it light. It does not take a lot of light to pierce darkness. If someone wants to break out they...

Louisiana, LSU, Tigers, Couchsurf, Weekend, New Orleans

Image
Spent a fun weekend in Baton Rouge to LSU (Louisiana State University) go Tigers. Decided to take a much needed break from studying so I drove my Jeep Wrangler an hour and a half from New Orleans to see a friend and couch surf at his place. Saturday was pretty chill but Sunday we went to the pool which turned out to be eventful. Met some new friends and had a blast!

Michigan Grand Marais, Hike, Blue Sky, Lake Superior, Sand Dunes, Pure Michigan, Friends, Travel Couch Surf.

Spent a nice weekend in Michigan at the end of the semester. Saw a lot of friends and family, flew Delta airlines. Picked up a Jeep Cherokee to drive and was with my grandmother on the flight in from Detroit. Had a nice flight from Baton Rouge to Atlanta, to Detroit to Marquette. Turned 26 years young! Also, took a weekend trip to Grand Marais Michigan to see an old friend. Did some nice hiking, adventuring, slept on her couch (couchsurf) and saw the blue sky and blue pure Michigan Lake Superior water. I'm getting sloppy. Anyway, here are some unique pictures!

Travel Summer 2015, ideas

Thinking about taking a trip this May. Wanting to go to either Europe or South America. Leaning towards Brasil but will need to see. Using kayak.com explore to pick out my flights. I have a small story, when I flew to New Orleans from upper michigan this December I offered up my seat on a booked flight for a little over $1,500. The Ohio State Buckeye fans did not want to miss the Allstate Sugarbowl. It was a little luck and a lot of recognizing opportunity. As soon as I heard the amount I ran to give up my seat. I pulled in to Detroit late from Michigan, with no assigned seat to New Orleans.  Short narrative: The cool Detroit air filled my nose as I got off the plane. Late to my gate I could feel perspiration on my back as I jogged to my gate. I looked up in dear feeling anxious as I noticed a lobby/gate filled with red and silver. People angry and impatient waiting to get to New Orleans for the big game. Calmly I walked to the gate and asked if I had a seat. The delta flight agent...

Florida Travel, CouchSurf Spring Break 2015 New Orleans - Tampa

Image
Took a road trip from New Orleans, LA to Tampa, FL for spring break; needed to decompress from my studies and visit some old friends. Ran in to everyone from my CEO friend from SmartBattery,LLC to old server friends at Cassis American Brasserie. It was a fun and eventful trip. I need to get better at posting on a regular basis. As a side note on blogging I need to build a network of bloggers in the New Orleans area; maybe from meetup.com. In any case, traveling to Florida was inexpensive. I went solo in a Jeep Wrangler so gas expense was high but lodging was free and shopping at Publix grocery store made meals a ordinary expense. So, at the end of the day I spent money on gas to see some friends. Pictures to follow. Comments and feedback are appreciated.
