Barkkus Adventure Sunday Mardi Gras New Orleans!

Took a friend to the Barkkus Parade on Sunday in the French Quarter. Posting a view pics that were taken on her Nikon camera. Mostly the crowd and atmosphere, no dog pics!

A quick reminder: The traditional Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold were not chosen arbitrarily. Rex, the King of Carnival, selected this scheme in 1892, declaring purple for justice, green for faith and gold for power.

Atlanta, GA AEA/ASSA

I went to AEA/ASSA in Atlanta, GA to interview for jobs. My experience was positive overall. AEA/ASSA is a massive conference. I was able to network and meet other students that are on the job market and students that are in their second year. Some of the guys (and gals) were job market as a 6th year student, and others were there presenting working as a post doctorate. I met a lot of students from top schools (MIT, HARVARD, Boston College, Carnegie Mellon). It was cool. Most of the students I met were from an economics background.

Spent the weekend cross country skiing and hiking in Grand Marais, Michigan. Great short trip for a break from the holidays. Got to see and old friend and do some outdoor activity.
